Emeline Michel & RAM in one day…

May 13, 2010

Emeline Michel was in town for a week and so I could not resist but to ask her to play for a group of all girl orphans at Organisation Jeunes Filles en Action in Carrefour Feuilles (OJFA).  Emeline has a big heart and spent time with the girls talking to them about the power of having a dream or an idea.  She also shared her experiences and love for Haiti.  The young girls here are so confident and I thought they might like to have the Queen of Haitian song sing for them.  Not only did Emeline sing for them but they also sang for her…I’ll post videos as soon as the uploading is done…

On this same day, RAM performed a concert for Koray, which is made up of 5000 former Petionville club camp residents.  The children were hanging off of Richard non-stop and at first all the little girls were surrounding him and then all the boys made a circle around Richard.  Later they would come to the tour bus and talk with him, ask him questions and show him some love.

Children certainly made yesterday a beautiful day.  RAM’s concert rocked the camp and everyone was overjoyed and danced as if they were letting all of their stress out.  People were smiling without pause, including myself.  The best part was seeing Richard and band jump into the crowd forming a dance line that camp residents followed.

I have videos of RAM and Emeline to share…they are coming!  I am so grateful to have Emeline, DBR and RAM’s music in the film STRANGE THINGS.  Yesterday would not have been the same had the project not happen.

    Hi Régine,
Would love to know more about the young women’s group. Can you post some more info about that to the WorldPulse listserve or here? Also, do I get permission to repost the part of this post about Emeline performing to them along with the pics on the PotoFanm website? If you send us more info about the group, I will add it to the repost as background. Thanks and keep up all the amazing work!!!
